The Function

This is a fantastic chance for an experienced and client-focused electrical building services expert to join our London team and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of creative electrical design solutions.

You'd be working on a variety of projects with top developers and clients. We are searching for individuals with experience in commercial offices, both refurbishment and new construction, education, hospitality, significant transport hubs and/or redevelopments. We're currently working on many commercial office remodels and decarbonization projects, as well as the CAT B fitout of some of London's premier office space for blue-chip customers. We continue to have new construction projects, such as a major transport hub, a Passivhaus school, and new offices in central London. 

You will create new and cultivate existing great client connections to maximise satisfaction and secure repeat business, as well as manage, motivate, and inspire less experienced engineers. 

The Capabilities

You have a degree in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering and substantial experience in an Electrical Engineering role within a building services context, demonstrating your familiarity with high quality engineering solutions and a client-focused approach. 

You have continuously proved your ability to handle many large-scale projects and less experienced engineers in order to meet and exceed client expectations in your most recent employment. You are well-versed in design software and have demonstrated experience with creative, sustainable, and intuitive design. 

Because this work is collaborative and client-focused, exceptional communication and project management skills are required. 

AUTHORITY FOR DECISION MAKING:

1. Lead the technical delivery of projects and provide technical supervision, advice, and coaching to less experienced workers.
2. In accordance with operational procedures, checking and/or confirming the work of less experienced personnel.
3. Recognised point of contact for project clients, operating as second-in-command to the project manager.
4. Significant contribution to project financial management, including the production of information for "month-end completions," invoicing, and debt management operations, under the supervision of a more experienced manager.
5. Some involvement in people management operations such as recruitment, selection, and performance evaluation. Line management responsibilities for a small number of employees is possible.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage engineering designs in accordance with client brief and/or other project criteria 
• Review and provide input on designs created by more junior personnel 
• Monitor resourcing requirements for projects and provide feedback to Associates / Partners
• Contribute to the day-to-day management and control of projects (including commercial and financial management, project management, and compliance with QA, environmental, and health and safety procedures) under the supervision of a more experienced manager. 
• Provide training and coaching to more junior staff, including acting as a mentor to those pursuing membership in professional institutions.
• Participate in internal and/or external marketing and business development events as needed; 
• Contribute to the preparation of submissions and fee bids; and 
• Develop and maintain good client relationships.
