The Acuity Brands Electrical Engineering Leadership Program is a two-year rotational experience designed to develop high-potential applicants into engineering leaders through hands-on experiences that match participants' talents with business objectives. Each Engineering Leadership Program Specialist spends the first 18 - 24 months of their job rotating every 6 months within the engineering department to ensure that program graduates are prepared to succeed in all facets of their field. 

Each rotation is purposefully designed to provide participants with opportunity to expand their business acumen, leadership skills, and competency in particular engineering skill sets. Participants will have a clear grasp of how they integrate into the wider corporate strategy and will have developed the essential skillsets to become a future leader at Acuity Brands upon completion of the Leadership Program.

The Leadership Program will begin in July 2024.

In addition to the essential knowledge gained during rotations, recent graduates will participate in activities to improve their business acumen and personal growth. Among these activities are:

  • All participants will receive specialized onboarding to enable their integration into the organization and program.
  • A one-on-one mentoring relationship with an engineering leader who will serve as a mentor during the program and beyond.
  • Social and networking events to help you interact with colleagues and professionals in your industry.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with program on a regular basis to learn about diverse business procedures and projects from peers
  • Leadership report-out meetings to discuss rotating learnings, as well as performance appraisals to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement

Important Tasks and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

While specific projects are selected by company needs, each Leadership Programme has a set of "functional requirements" to ensure that all participants have comparable learning objectives. All Engineering Leadership Programme Specialists will be rotated through the following positions:

Product Development of New Products

Furthermore, with the remaining rotations, we will combine the individual's hobbies with our present business needs to investigate areas such as:

  • Engineering of Optics
  • Engineering of Light Engines
  • Product Development Outsourcing
  • Product Assistance
  • Product Administration
  • Project Administration
  • Technical Support, Field Service, and After Sales
  • Certifications & Laboratories

Education (a high school diploma is required)

Bachelor of Science degree
Bachelor of Arts degree


Preferred Education (i.e. degree kind)

Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Science

Experience (minimum of two years required)

0–2 years of relevant job experience
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Experience (industry knowledge)
